Australian rugby league superstar Reece Walsh has signed a major deal with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.

The NRL player will be an ambassador for the US team Downunder, and the deal will expand the Broncos player’s profile in America, while promoting the NFL in Australia.

News of the contract comes a week after Walsh was announced as an ambassador for the Seattle team. He attended the NFL season opener between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne.

The deal was negotiated while his manager Nash Dawson was serving a nine-month suspension.

Dawson’s suspension came after a physical altercation with fellow player agent Chris Orr outside a Port Macquarie pub in 2024. The suspension expires today.

Walsh’s management, which has continued to work with Walsh throughout Dawson’s suspension, believes the Super Bowl champs deal has the potential to turn the NRL player into a global sports star.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old continues his recovery from ankle surgery.

While he has had a very tame 2026 season, Broncos coach Michael Maguire is said to be confident that Walsh can return in full force next year.

Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters has not yet ruled Walsh out of contention for the upcoming Rugby League World Cup.
