Two people have been critically injured in a crash at Broadlands, south of Rotorua.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Broadlands Rd, near East Rd, about 4.50pm yesterday.

A car had rolled and one lane was blocked, police said.

Two helicopters and multiple ambulance vehicles were called to the crash and three people were treated at the scene, a Hato Hone St John spokesman said.

Two people had critical injuries and one was in a moderate condition.

One person was taken to Rotorua Hospital by helicopter and two by road, the spokesman said.

A police spokesperson was unsure what time the road reopened but said the job was closed about 10.40pm.
