Two men have been hospitalised after they were seriously injured in two separate stabbings.

Police said they first responded to a report at about 12.25am regarding a grievous assault on Ross Crescent in Hamilton.

A man was found with a stab wound to his abdomen and was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

Hato Hone St John said they were notified of the “disorder incident” at 12.31am and sent an ambulance, two rapid response units, and a manager to the scene.

“Our crews assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition,” a Hato Hone St John spokesperson said.

Just hours later, police responded to a report at about 3.10am, regarding an assault on Goldfinch St in Ohakune, a town in the Manawatū-Whanganui region.

A man was reportedly stabbed in the arm and was taken to hospital in a serious condition, police said.

Hato Hone St John said they responded with an ambulance and a helicopter.

One person was airlifted to Whanganui Base Hospital in a serious condition.

Police say inquiries into both incidents are ongoing.
