Eastern district police Senior Sergeant Philip Rowden said officers were responding to an incident after a vehicle was stopped in Waiohiki before 10am.

The driver had fled towards Taradale, with officers locating the vehicle on Windsor Tce.

Police were armed as a precaution, with cordons in place as inquiries were made to locate the driver with a dog unit, Rowden said.

“Public can expect to see an increased presence in the area.”

More information would be provided when available.

Windsor Tce is a dead-end cul-de-sac intersecting Meeanee Rd, near several schools.
