A vehicle fire has sent large plumes of smoke into the air over South Auckland this morning.
Fire and Emergency shift manager Colin Underdown said crews were alerted to a van on fire on the side of State Highway 20 in Manukau at 7.26am.
Three fire engines attended, with the fire being mostly extinguished an hour later.
The fire spread to some of the nearby vegetation, Underdown said.
Footage of the blaze shows large flames engulfing the van with plumes of thick grey smoke rising out of them.
