Furniture giant Nick Scali has confirmed New Zealand customers’ personal details were held on systems affected by a security breach last month.

In an email to customers yesterday, the company said details on sales orders including name, email address, delivery address and phone number were affected.

However, no credit card details are recorded on sales orders, the company said.

“No credit card details are recorded on any sales order. All credit card payments are processed through a third-party provider.”

The email urged customers to “remain alert” when receiving emails, text messages or phone calls, particularly where the sender or caller claims to be from Nick Scali, a bank or a government agency.

“Please be assured that supporting you is our priority. If you have any concerns, please respond directly to this email or phone us on 09 873 5524,” the company said.

The Herald has contacted Nick Scali for further comment.

The Australian-headquartered company has stores in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Last month, Australian media reported Nick Scali was forced to take some of its systems offline as it investigated a cyberattack.

At the time, the retailer said it did not have any evidence of unauthorised access to customer data, according to nine.com.au.

“We are continuing to investigate and will provide the most up-to-date information to customers through our dedicated webpage,” a spokesperson said.

The attack was reported to the Australian Cyber Security Centre and the Australian Federal Police.
